Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman in business. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently is the president of the organization. Buss is a California native Buss has been raised by an upper class family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur in real estate who eventually became the proprietor of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. Their relationship ended in 1972, which caused her to feel like she was left behind. She joined her family's business at the age of 19 and became the general manager of the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She was director of the Great Western Forum before assuming the position of vice-president of the Lakers. Buss and her five sisters inherited his Lakers controlling ownership after the passing of Buss' father in 2013. Every sister was given equal rights.
